Time zones are the hardest part of a distributed team and also the biggest advantage: work can move forward while you sleep. The trick is to design for it.
Agree on a small window of overlap, even two hours, for meetings and quick questions. Everything else should work asynchronously: clear written updates, decisions recorded in one place and deadlines that name a time zone.
Protect your own hours. Turn off notifications outside them and tell the team when you are reachable. A calendar that shows working hours helps people respect them.
When you apply for roles, check the location rules. Some listings are open worldwide while others need overlap with a region. Filter by hiring region to see only the ones that fit.
